Sigil sluggish under Windows 10

I have just installed Windows 10 64-bit on a PC formerly running Windows 7 64-bit. Clean install not an upgrade one.

I downloaded Sigil and installed it but found to my surprise that 1.9.20 was very slow and laggy typically taking a couple of seconds to respond to mouse and keyboard input, on the default file that opens when you start Sigil.

I tried uninstalling 1.9.20 and going back to 1.8.0 which I had been using under Windows 7 but it was exactly the same.

Could this be a hardware issue? Is my machine perhaps just too old and slow for Windows 10? It is an i5-3470T with 4 GB RAM.

Note: I am not running any AV or security software other than Windows 10's default. All drivers are up to date.
