I've never seen that nag, and I never sync. I do use Dropbox on my Sage occasionally, but my Libra is always offline. Automatic sync is disabled on both. No sideloaded mode on either (just never bothered with it).
I do have lots of Kobo purchases, but they've all been archived, as I sideload everything.
