Beware New York Times calibre destroys your access to the website

Because of NYT recent detection of bot activity while trying, usually unsuccessfully, to download the paper, they've gotten nasty and have, it looks like permanently, blocked my access to articles on their websites, even though I have a paid subscription.

This block has been on for over 7 hours, no sign of being lifted.

EDIT: NINE HOURS LATER I FOUND THE IP BLOCK WAS REMOVE - USING BROWSERS ON PC AND MOBILE PHONE.
So the punishment is 9 hours in the penalty box!

EDIT 2: I also noticed just before the restored access on regular IP, that when I opened an article using a new IP from VPN that I was required to go through a lot of Captcha steps to prove I wasn't a robot!

I have used the "contact us" box to tell them I'm not a robot, but I've gotten no reply from their robot.

The block is associated with the IP address used for the failed calibre download this morning. I can circumvent the block by using a VPN, or on my phone by either a VPN or turning off WiFi and using a cellular connection.

So beware of using this recipe.

I wish I knew how to get rid of the block so I can use my subscription again. (Works ok in the NYT apps only)
