You're not alone in this, of course. In fact, most ebook readers don't use Calibre at all, I'd guess. Those of us who do are a tiny, nerdy minority. There just are a lot of us gathered here on MR.

As for me, I installed Calibre and read up on DRM before buying my very first ebook with DRM. If DRM removal had not been possible, I'd have stuck to mostly paper books. Even so I didn't use Calibre for library management for a couple of years, only for backup. When my library grew to be more than a thousand books, I decided to use the full power of Calibre to manage it and haven't looked back since.

Overdrive isn't really available in my country (the choice is very limited), and the only local library who offers ebooks only does so via their website, no apps and no eink, so I've never been much for library borrowing.
