My Kobo Libra 2 is already a nightmare using the built in dictionary in Koreader - it takes ages for it to render a result. I would not want to buy a new device only to discover that dictionary look ups take forever.
If it'll be slower than my Nova 3 I might just pass.

I'm not seeing any unusual sluggishness compared to my Nova 2 or even my Note Air 2. I can try a 3rd party dictionary app and see what happens.
It may be that Onyx believed that a CPU downgrade could work if the Leaf 2 really has a Carta 1200 display that promises faster page turns. No device will be faster than its slowest component. With any eInk device, that's usually the display! Onyx could drop an Apple M2 in there and it wouldn't make much difference.
