Just create a fictitious email address to register. Or put a real one. Kobo never use it unless you go to their website.
I put on the 1000+ PD eBooks after registering with fictitious address and then edit the conf file for SideloadedMode= true which makes My Books the home page.
None of the recipients of these Kobos use WiFi. They buy or download PD ebooks via PC and transfer via USB (optionally Calibre). They can use any online shop that way.
