PW5/PW5SE seems to have a non-recoverable bug which causes the device to brick itself, I've heard of quite a few people with non-jailbroken devices having the exact same issue.

Using the warranty is your only choice, all of the modern Kindles have a locked bootloader and serial port meaning that even if you could figure out what was wrong, you wouldn't be able to fix it. I doubt that Amazon would deny a warranty claim as it seems to be a known issue on your specific model.
