Given that the PW4 was released 3 years 11 months ago, you could have damaged the battery by charging every day. If the battery has been charged too many times, you can either buy a new battery and try to replace the one inside or you can buy a new PW5 or Kindle Basic 2022.
You should only charge when the battery gets low or you know you need it charged (like going on vacation). Most eInk Readers do not need a daily charge. How long between charges depends on how much you read and and how much you plug into the computer. WiFi left on also uses battery. So keep the WiFi off until you need it.
