Well, I had checked my data base, and just re-checked it, and my PC and USB connectivity work just fine with Sage.
But missing the method for increasing timeout - I know it is here somewhere, and quite recent - I tried to increase the speed anyway and managed it: with my now 64b portable calibre, converting bunches of books to kepub within calibre is mostly 2 to 10 seconds, up to 3 minutes for just a few huge books, and sending the kepubs bunches to the reader are very quick too. I still have 100s to treat, so time consuming, but once it's done, I'll only have to do it for new books, once, instead of every time I send them to a device.
And the job converting portable calibre to 64b has to be done for every new F/w I adopt - but I only adopt the proven ones that really improve reading.
