Maybe I'm too paranoid, but I have a feeling that waterproofing is really designed to make it impossible to upgrade the internal storage, so that you're forced to buy the more expensive models to get a bigger SD card. "We added waterproofing" sounds better than "We took away your ability to upgrade the internal storage" on the specifications sheet.
