Being a library book, I didn't look at the code. I would have been viewing kepub from the Kobo store on my Sage.
It would absolutely make sense to have code to prevent the double display of the conversations, but perhaps that somehow didn't work with kepub? Dunno.
Displaying both image and text was unnecessary and obnoxious. Aside from the issue of images of text being horrid for accessibility anyway....
