I am noticing syncing issues with the new firmware. I purchased six books at kobo.com. The books synced to my iOS Kobo apps and to my Elipsa and Clara HD. So far, so good.
Two of the books were replacing books that I had borrowed from a friend. I only had dogeared bookmarks. No annotations. I made sure there was parity between the older ebooks and the newly purchased versions by manually adding the bookmarks into the newly purchased books. I had the newly purchased book open on my iPhone Kobo app and the older version open on my Clara HD. The bookmarks synced between apps and the ereaders for all the newly purchased books.
This is where things got weird. The bookmarks may have synced, and when selected they load to the proper location, but their entries are all marked “0%” without chapter headings on both ereaders. Also, on the iPhone Kobo app, I moved the books into a collection. This synced for my Clara HD but not for my Elipsa no matter how many times I tapped on sync—even after waiting a while. Also, on the Clara HD and Elipsa the finished percentage were different than on the iPhone app.
I haven’t tested text annotations yet, and I have yet to repair both ereaders to see if that fixes the problem. However, I was wondering if other people had noticed syncing issues with this new firmware.
Update 1: Five minutes after I posted this, last page read synced properly onto my iPhone Kobo app. Perhaps some of this behavior is a server issue.
I have attached some screen shots. I can never tell if this will work properly from Tapatalk, so please let me know if you can’t see them.
Update 2: I repaired and rebooted all devices. Now “last page read” syncing works instantly across devices and reader apps, but the bookmark percentages and locations in those books are still broken. I manually removed then re-added the bookmarks on my Clara HD, and that fixed… Nothing. Everything now says 100% instead of 0%. Then I added the books back to the Clara HD and tapped on sync, and the Kobo crashed. After it rebooted, I resynced and the books re-added to the collection synced to my iOS apps, but not the Elipsa. I think I’d rather read a book than troubleshoot this. LOL
