I have a v1, the battery life is more like 8-9 hours per charge. Iliad v2 has a larger battery pack and I think battery life is more like 14-15 hours (pls double check).

Irex is a small company so they have decided to devote themselves to DR1000. No more firmware update means Iliad users cannot expect new functionality, bugfixes (??) etc from the company.

I have not read any technical papers on mine but mangas I do read a lot. They display just fine. If your original documents are big letter sized, you will have probably have to use the zoom function. There are users who use their iliads for technical papers, check under the general section of the iliad forum for their feedback. That's the best.
