I was thinking of him being outside the car. And the mild electric shock idea did cross my mind years ago when the cats first found me. It would have been a good thief deterrent as well. I would have been mortified if I really hurt any critter by shocking it (unless it was a rat, then I would feel no guilt whatsoever). That idea went out the window fast.
