I know that there is no functional difference; I'm just curious as to the cause. I would expect the decrypted EPUBs to be identical, regardless of the Calibre version. Since the files differ, that would suggest that Calibre is building a new EPUB after the decryption, rather than giving you the decrypted original file.

The DeDRM ZIP contains many Python scripts, but none of them appears to be used for decryption without Calibre.
