More and more delivery services deliver not during the day, but in the evening. Which is understandable; more people are home in the evening, so less packages that have to be delivered for a second time or need to be dropped off at a pick up point.
Except that a lot, most, delivery persons don't seem to understand that you can live over a store. More often than not when we expect a delivery in the evening we end up getting a message that nobody was home. When they didn't even ring the doorbell. The see the store's closed, and move on. Even if our doorbell has a sign with our family name and even if I stick a sign on the door that someone's home to receive the package.
If possible I usually change the delivery time to the next day during the day. But with DHL you have to keep an eye on the tracking page, because they often change it back to the original evening delivery slot, sometimes you have to change it three time for it to stick and even then the delivery person will "try" deliver it, assume no one's home and drops it off at a pick up point.
Now DPD also changed back the delivery date. It was originally scheduled for Saturday, I changed it to today (Tuesday), they changed it back to Saturday. I changed it again, then they scheduled it for Monday and I had to change it again. The strange thing is that they don't deliver in the city center on both Saturday and on Monday.
Hopefully my DPD package will arrive today and my DHL packages tomorrow, although I'll have to keep an eye on the DHL website.
