as far as I know transferring on macOS works the same as on windows. What button are you referring to? IIRC the way to copy books from the device to the calibre library is right click on a book in the device view and choose "Add books to library". On macOS I believe you right click with either ctrl+click or cmd+click cant remember which it is at the moment.
