Option 1: In your filemanager, right click on an ebook or a docx or a PDF and select "Open with Calibre"
Option 2: Use the "Add Books" Icon. Use Ctrl-p to open Preferences menu and fix toolbar if you have no icon.
Go to "Edit Metadata" to add an ebook to an existing title with no formats, click on the book with a plus.
You can also import ebooks from an ereader, but only if they have no DRM.
