SNACCIDENT
Among the most useful portmanteaux in recent times (see 2 August) is the word ‘snaccident’ – a very recent mash-up of ‘snack’ and ‘accident’, which denotes the inadvertent eating of a whole packet of biscuits or other delicious treat when you meant to have just the one. Fortunately for any snaccident sufferers, Alka-Seltzer was introduced on this day in 1931…
