Well, not so much redundant...more like too difficult to implement well, and the search ability does a good job of replacing one of its primary functions.
I plan to add a glossary though, and once I'm finished with the text and images I'll try to do a linked index (hyperlinks instead of page numbers), but that would be a lot of work, and I think for the most part searching will do an adequate job of replacing the index for all but the most serious scholars.
I wonder if it's worth adding links to each proper noun to view its glossary entry once I've done it...
