I’d be glad to at least offer services as a local user back up for the disk images. I’d suggest we have multiple of these, since access to Google drive, or Dropbox, etc can be lost. And as this event has shown it’s damaging to have all our eggs in one place.
I’d also offer to distribute links. I don’t think they should be restricted in the way David had them, I’m sure he had his reasons even if I can’t think of them. These were just images pulled from the device and technically anyone with one of these devices and a computer could reproduce them.
Personally I’d suggest at least 5 people who are long term forum members. It’s unlikely that 5 essentially random people would all be unavailable over the course of 24hrs to offer aid to those who bricked their devices. And it’s not so many that we’d really risk tripping over each other in helping others.
I also think perhaps making new threads for expressly requesting images for different devices would be a great idea. It would make them easy to find with a name like “Kobo Glo Recovery Image Request Thread” or something for the various devices. The current threads follow no such naming convention and have been made messy by various users over the years.
