I've started the 120+ hour experience of Shelby Foote's The Civil War (Vols 1-3). I know Foote had some very obvious blind spots (not talking nearly enough about slavery being the elephant in the room), but his history and portraiture of the men who made it has always been enjoyable to me. And Grover Gardner is an excellent narrator.
