Oh, yes. Speaking of V&R's, I very recently (Friday) had to euthanize my beloved Miss Storm (cat). Being owned by pets carries that burden of responsibility and it sucks, but I am grateful for the years we had.
HOWEVER, on the flipping rant side:
Why the holy hell are DMOADs not available for humans? Why is it that I've been able to give Adequan to my horses for 30--THIRTY!!!--years, and to dogs and cats for at least a decade, if not more--but they don't exist for humans? That's...that's absurd.
Abso-freaking-lutely absurd. Given the aging of the US population (not even counting the other billions in the world), it would outsell Viagra and whatever all else sells like hotcakes--stuff for diabetes, I guess.
GRUMBLE.
About DMOADs:
Spoiler:
(DMOAD means Disease-Modifying-Osteo-Arthritis-Drug. Quite LITERALLY, it substantially cures/treats arthritis. Doesn't just cover it up with pain meds (my current life), or faux lubricant, etc.--it actually retards the advancement and in many cases can reverse a lot of arthritis. Yes, really, my older-than-45 MR compatriots and correspondents.
Given that I am plagued with a situation with my back--in which a teeny-weeny, and I mean, FLIPPING teeny-weeny spot in my back is arthritic and it causes unbelievable pain, I'm trying to figure out if I should borrow someone's arthritic, 122-lb great Dane and get signed up for Adequan shots and put 'em in my own buttocks. I mean...what the hell, amirite?)
THIRTY years for high-end performance horses (or, any horse, really, where the owner is willing to pay, and honestly, it's
not expensive at all), and you can readily and easily learn how to administer it yourself--we administered it SubQ to the late great Miss Storm. Thirty flipping years. It just boggles me.
RIP Miss Storm.
