Yep. When I view a book for the first time, I get that "preparing book for first read" notification. But, 99% of the time, that blurb lasts only a second or two. In these rare cases, it's taking several minutes (time enough for me to pop over to the Task Manager, open the Snipping Tool and take a screenshot without mussing my hair). After it finishes loading (and I quit the viewer), if I go into the editor, do a Tools > Check Book, tell it to remove the bookmarks file, save it, and then restart the viewer, it'll load in its normal couple of seconds (with the "preparing book for first read" again popping up).

But, now that you mention it, I'm not sure if the viewer is taking a long time at the "preparing book for first read" point or if it's on one of the "loading book" points. I'll try to pay more attention the next time it happens.
