Birthday Party and Other Stories by A. A. Milne. There are some fun stories in here, and most carry the distinctive Milne voice that I find very easy to read. My favourites are probably "Anne-Marie", "Tristram" and probably "Dear Old George". But like many such collections they're not all great stories. 3/5.
It's Too Late Now by A. A. Milne. Subtitled: The autobiography of a writer, which also explains why some personal details are missing, and obviously only covers until it was published in 1939*. I enjoyed this very much. Not that Milne was an altogether nice man, I get the impression he was quite selfish and admits that his brother "Ken had one advantage of me which he was to keep throughout his life. He was definitely nicer." 4/5.
The ebook editions I have of Milne's books are from Pan Macmillan and have many flaws. The autobiography was notable for using Eastern Arabic Numerals, making the numerals for monetary amounts invisible on my reader.
And for a change of pace...
Between Two Thorns by Emma Newman, first book of the five book Split Worlds fantasy series. There were some parts of this that I thought were very intriguing, but apparently they weren't the parts the author was most interested in, so much of the story dragged for me. It ended well enough despite leaving certain story-lines open for the series, but I won't be going on. 2/5.
