Oddly, there seems to be no real standard. From the graphics industry, it appears the standard is width by height (no depth since they are dealing with 2D representations. See
What Comes First? Width or Height?. I also found multiple references where the height and width were swapped. The only real standard seems to be that depth comes last. Unless you are going with the smallest first (yet another standard) which would mean depth would be first for an ereader.
Which is why I prefer writing 160.5W x 181.4H x 7.6D mm to remove the possibility for confusion.
Looking at Kobo's site (/ca/en), for the 4 ereaders I checked, Kobo seems to prefer WHD with the Libra 2 listed as 144.6W x 161.6H x 9D mm while the Clara HD is listed 110W x 159.6H x 8.35D mm (the WHD is my personal addition).
This also shows that all 3 (Sage, Libra 2 and Clara HD) are rectangular since the width is not equal to the height.
