I just received a newly purchased KT4W8 and want to jailbreak it. Given this unit has never been turned on I assume there is no need to factory reset it as the read-me calls for, but that I otherwise need to follow the directions. This KT4W8 will be a gift to a family member, thus I do NOT want to register it to my account.
My questions are:
How can I determine my firmware level without configuring the wifi?
If I find it is too old a release can I update it without configuring wifi or registering it?
Once I have the jailbreak installed what is the best firmware to install?
Does the jailbreak prevent Amazon forcing an update or do I need to take further action?
