I'm very pleased to report that the amended Guardian/Observer recipe worked, as did my renamed local copy of it, thanks Kovid! Will use it daily and confirm success in a few days.

And incidentally " feeds += self.parse_section('https://www.theguardian.com/theguardian/weekend', 'Weekend - ')" needs to be taken out of the recipe as they stopped publishing it a year or so ago, but the recipe still fetches the aging articles from the last publication!
