Not sending Series to Kobo Libra 2

Hello
I'm sure I've overlooked something simple but can't work out what it is, so I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

I'm sending titles, authors and even collections with no problem, but when I click on the show Series button it tells me I have no series, even though they are in the metadata.

In Preferences/Sending Books to Devices, the saved template says:
{author_sort[0]}/{author_sort}/{series} {series_index:0>2s} {title}{#coll}

That as I understand it serves as a plugboard to send my metadata.

I'm using Calibre 3.48 with the plugin KOBOTOUCH348 (1.02) which I installed to let Calibre recognise the Libra 2 and have disabled KOBOTOUCH Extended.

In the KOBOTOUCH348 plugin, I have ticked Set Series Information.

metadata management is set to automatic, and I've unplugged several times which has made no difference

What have I missed?
