Hi, I hate to trouble you with the same sort of issue, but. . . running Windows 7 (getting a new laptop soon) and was running Calibre 4.16.0 with no problems, used it every day for a project of mine and then yesterday, got the following error.
calibre, version 4.16.0
ERROR: Download failed: Failed to download metadata. Click Show Details to see details
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\utils\ipc\simple_worker.py", line 308, in main

File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\sources\update.py ", line 41, in load_plugin
File "<string>", line 24, in <module>
ImportError: cannot import name random_common_chrome_user_agent
Based on the advice in this forum, uninstalled this version and installed 3.48, but still getting the same sort of error.
calibre, version 3.48.0

Other than uninstall the newer Calibre and install the older version for Windows 7 in an attempt to get Calibre to download metadata again, I did not install or delete anything on my machine. Thanks so much for any assistance you can offer. Calibre is critical to my project and really cannot spare the time waiting for my new laptop. Also, apologizing in advance if I'm posting wrong as I am super shy online and rarely reach out for help.
