I've read about the environment variables edit I can make, but it didn't seem to do anything when I tried it, so now we're at the stupid question:
Do I need to restart the computer after setting the variable for it to work? Or should it work immediately?
The environment variables are no longer used. In calibre, go to Preferences / Look & feel / Main interface, set the Color Palette to light, then restart calibre.
