Sorry, it isn't something I am interested in doing. I just don't think enough people would use it, and there are complications in how the plugins work that would make it difficult. The annotations plugin needs a single book to be selected when starting, and there could be issues with multiple dialogs opening at the same time. Plus, there is no way to only get new annotations. And the annotations fetch runs in the foreground.

Why? You connect, fetch the book status, fetch the annotations and send new books to the device. Unless you are saying that you keep forgetting to fetch the annotations and have to plug it in again the fetch the annotations, I don't see how it increases the USB wear. And honestly, my seven year old laptop does have a slightly looser than new USB port, it also depends on the cable I am using. The one I use with the Sage is actually a bit hard to plug in. And none of my devices, including the 10+ year old Touch, have any problems with the port.
