Perhaps I thought of that unconsciously. Of course if it's 1979 and you only have Visicalc on your Apple ][
At least you can export from Excel. A million years ago I was using a stupid DTP program and belatedly discovered you could edit, save, print.
No export and it was CP/M or DOS so no copy/paste either.
After that I made sure any source was either in a format something else could read or be exported in such rather than type text or draw in some "wonderful" program incompatible with the world.
