Being a "change is as good as a holiday" kinda guy, I'm thinking Ubuntu, or maybe something like Presto (or similar) when it comes out - have the instant-on, but leave Windows XP there in case I ever need it. Or maybe Hackintosh the thing, for fun. It'll probably be Ubuntu (I'm just waiting on the official release of 9).

I'm pretty happy with Ubuntu 9, actually. My issues have really had more to do with the ATI graphics card and my 3D hobby, which get along rather less well than I had hoped. Before that, I had some issues with Evolution being shut out of the Exchange server at the university, but that's because M$ decided to drop WebDav support in Exchange, probably to try to make it harder for non-M$ applications to connect.

Ubuntu itself has not given me any problems, nor have the apps it comes with.
