I'm pretty happy with Ubuntu 9, actually. My issues have really had more to do with the ATI graphics card and my 3D hobby, which get along rather less well than I had hoped. Before that, I had some issues with Evolution being shut out of the Exchange server at the university, but that's because M$ decided to drop WebDav support in Exchange, probably to try to make it harder for non-M$ applications to connect. Ubuntu itself has not given me any problems, nor have the apps it comes with.
