You must change the path template in the device driver. Changing the template in the driver will change the lpath sent to the device. KOReader uses that lpath as the path/name of the book.

Changing the template in Preferences / Sending ... sets the template used the first time a device connects (any device). From then on a device driver remembers that original template. Further changes in Preferences / Sending ... have no effect. To change the template in the device driver go to Preferences / Plugins, search for the device driver, in this case "SmartDevice", then "Customize plugin".

But to answer your question: no, the wireless device driver sends the result of evaluating the template, not the template itself. That isn't going to change.

The driver does send all the metadata for a book so the KOReader people could implement a template processor. The is what I did with CC back in the time when I owned it.
