There is a menu option if you have installed the menu needed for KOReader. It simulates a USB disconnect and reconnect. Some like it but it seems a lot of bother to me.
The Kobo MUST import the copied books before Calibre can update extra metadata supported by a Kobo that's not in the epub spec.
It doesn't seem like much bother to me to unplug laptop end, wait for the Kobo to finish importing and reconnect the laptop plug.
The menu option really does the same thing and simply simulates the plug being unplugged and plugged in again. It takes as long, IMO (others may disagree) more chance of messing up. Either way Calibre has to connect twice.

Also the extra menu often needs refreshed via the one click package if the Kobo firmware is updated.

I've only installed the "one click" on my Elipsa. All the other Kobos I manage are unpatched and no extra menu.
