Still, it seems dumb to have the charge % displayed if it is going to be incorrect at some point.
Frankly, the Kobo has probably always worked this way, I just happened to notice it one day and kinda fixated on it for some reason.

Phones have several times larger batteries. They are doing a lot more even during sleep so the amount of energy expended to update battery status is pretty small compared to all the other things they are doing, so it's worth doing since phones spend a lot more time charging and the users expect to know how long it's going to take
