That's exactly what I used to do. Now, instead of using K4PC, I use "Download & Transfer via USB" from the "Manage My Content" section of Amazon's website. I find this faster than using K4PC - part of that may be because I run Linux, so I had to run K4PC under Wine, and that slows things down a bit. Plus, you are dependent on running a very old version of K4PC that has it's own key that is separate from your Paperwhite (or whatever Kindle reading device you use). I still have my K4PC installation showing as one of my "devices" on Amazon so I could go back to that method if I desired. But I can't come up with any reason to do that. "Download & Transfer via USB" works perfectly fine for me.
