The Kindle DXG (B009) came out after KK3, but lacks RAM and is basically just upgrade of screen of DX. It doesn't do KF8.

My theory is you don't get KF8 unless the Kindle was released originally with KF8, suggesting that if a Kindle reports current FW version, the download system ignores that and only goes by model number, not FW version.
Would that be 4th Gen and later, or 5th Gen and later?
