Yeah Amazon is VERY aggressive with updating kindles. The instant you connect to WiFi it will begin downloading the latest firmware. Always keep in airplane mode until your OTA bins are renamed. Worth noting, you need to reapply the renameotabin extension after every update or downgrade. When you do either of those, it will replace the files and reenable the OTA binaries.
