Great song; and just like the show, it really pushed the envelope. Interracial dating was definitely not acceptable back then and got this song banned on many radio stations.

This song places Ian in the vanguard of people trying to tear down the racial barrier. Kudos to her for the message the lyrics conveyed and the great music used to deliver it.
