This does seem to be a bug or something. My Libra 2's Koreader crashes to the panic screen when choosing "Random image from screensaver folder" (even if there's only a single image there) but not when choosing that specific image for "Specific image from screensaver folder".

Choosing "Stretch covers and images to fit screen" seems to fix it, even though it's not required for specifically choosing single images, for some reason. And the image shows up with a proper thumbnail on the image selection interface of Koreader, so it's not malformed. Which is why I think it's a bug with the "random screensaver" code

Update: Never mind, the “Stretch” option didn’t fix it. Just had it crash again. Also crashes if you choose book covers for screensaver, but mark a particular book as “exclude cover from screensaver” and then lock the screen. Same logs as OP
