No it doesn't. What they don't say is which 20-30% to use. They do say to avoid the extremes, which you restated as "avoid charging to 100%". With your interpretation, that means you let the battery charge drop to about 80% and then charge to 95%. And that means you have hardly any time actually using the battery.
Look at
https://batteryuniversity.com/articl...ased-batteries or any of the other pages at the same site for how to handle Li-Ion or any other sort of batteries.

I get what you mean about the battery life/effort ratio, but the whole reason I bothered is because I like the Forma alot (except for the atrocious button)
and it seems like Kobo is not keen on making something like it (large capacity of storage but also light with a good battery) again for awhile, if at all.
I found a Forma with this capacity hard to get in Australia. I had to use a freight forwarder to even get them to send it to me.
I don't want a Sage because it is heavier, with a poor battery. So I want to my very-hard-to-get again Forma to last.
I don't think its too hard to avoid completely discharging and only a little hassle to avoid recharging entirely. I wonder if there are chargers that might even do it for you.

If the Forma is what you love, then great. But don't worry about the battery. Replacements are available and not that hard to install. At worst, you just need to find someone who knows how to use a soldering iron.
