I have to do some checking, but, I might have missed something. How much of a difference there was did depend on the device. I think on the larger devices, it wasn't as noticeable as on the smaller devices. The screen resolution could also have an affect. But, just looking at my Aura ONE now, I am seeing more of a difference than I remember. It might be that this changed and the difference is consistent across the devices. There was a change a few firmware versions ago with the DPI used for epubs. It changed from a hardcoded value to something matching the devices DPI. That might explain the differences in our memories.
