I reset my other 2 Kindles and the problem is gone on them as well.
It seems to be an issue with Sync not updating the local catalog properly. Reset rebuilds it from scratch.
Which is not to say that the issue won’t recur.
It did not fix an issue with certain books whose Author metadata disappears when they are downloaded. That’s probably something they need to fix upstream.
I have not seen these issues with the Kindle apps. There are occasional ‘catalog issues’ (e.g. books not showing in correct collections) but they (iOS and Android) have a ‘Sync’ feature in the More menu that rebuilds the catalog and clears it up. They should add this ‘full sync’ feature to Kindles so Reset is not necessary. Even though it can take the better part of an hour or longer to complete.
