Light bulbs were almost the FIRST consumer device.
Previously, light has the peril of
fire from spillage or leakage.
Basic Human needs of Light and Heat.
All the rest came after.
FWIW the house I was raised in had a Coal stove in the Kitchen (My dad installed an Electric one, so I do not remember coal in the kitchen ever being used.)
Many neighbors still had Ice Boxes (Ours was unused in the basement). Deep frozen was kept at the
meat locker down on Main Street, because of the size and complexity of the cooling plant. (FWIW We were 30Mi from NTC)
I will agree many moves by Apple, were just greed. releasing 8G devices when 16G chips were pretty common (just not rock bottom $)
