Congrats on the new reader. May I suggest that you head off to the
Baen Free Library, where you will find 80+ free science fiction and fantasy novels. There's lots of good stuff there. With no idea of what you like (beyond what is quoted above) I'll hazard a few suggestions:
For humorous adventure, try
Pyramid Scheme (Fantasy) or
Rats, Bats, and Vats (SF)
For a kick-ass coming-of-age tale, try
The March Upcountry (SF)
For SF mystery, try
The Mountains of Mourning
