Thanks for the suggestion, bernie. The script installed the most recent version (5.43), but unfortunately the problem is still there.

It occurred to me it might be the library's fault since it's pretty big and I moved it from a Windows computer running 5.42, so I imported a PDF file in the default library, but it also opens in the ebook-viewer.
