I was already mostly running programs all available on Linux. I can't remember last using WINE though I have it and a few programs such as Word 2003 on it. I exported my old 2002-2016 laptop XP as VM and have that in Virtual Box. Can't remember last time I used it. I ran Notepad++ on WINE but replaced it with KATE.
LO Office, Waterfox, Firefox, Filezilla, PuTTY, Thunderbird, KATE, Calibre, Foliate, Sigil, a more stable PDF reader than Adobe Acrobat (I'd been using 3rd party on XP since 2003), Eagle, Stellarium, Fontforge, Viber, Telegram, Signal, Skype, Zoom, Chromium, Hex Chat, Steam (but not all titles).

Mint & Mate desktop. Server 2003 based Theme. Gave up on Ubuntu years ago. Replaced server 2000 with Linux 15+ years ago. I used to use Redhat, CentOS etc for various appliances in work.

Certainly if you are using a company desktop you still need Windows for Accounts, Payroll etc unless using cloud based. For home users using only wordproccessing, spreadsheet, ebooks, web & email it makes no difference. Linux Mint with Mate works out of the box easier than Win7 or Win 10. Which I've used. I gave away two Win10 tablet/laptops. My sole Win7 game is also on Steam for Linux.

Less hoops/rings than Win10/Win11. Cheaper than a Mac.
