Dead Kindle 3 Keyboard - Can I reset remotely?

I grabbed my Kindle 3G Keyboard from the drawer because I was curious if the 3G still worked.
I have upgraded to new Kindles and haven't turned it on for awhile.
Of course the screen shows "Empty Battery" and it will not turn on.
I have tried everything:
1. Charging for long periods of time (days).
2. Holding the power button switch for 40+ seconds.
3. Holding the Home button.
Nothing seems to work.
The charging light actually comes on when plugged in but the screen never changes.
My next plan is to open it up and replug the battery in.
I could always grab another battery on ebay but I don't think it is worth the $15 just to get it back running again.
So, if I decide to sell as-is on eBay or trade into Amazon, is there a way have my account erased from it if they buyer replaces the battery?
